New Member: Rich Products Corporation

The National Fisheries Institute’s Crab Council announces Rich Products Corporation as its latest member. Through its iconic SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Co. consumer brand, Rich’s has provided premiere frozen specialty seafood products for more than 60 years.

As the No. 1 selling frozen retail shrimp brand, SeaPak’s product list contains diverse offerings including Maryland Style Crab Cakes. Made with wild caught blue swimming crab from Thailand, SeaPak’s crab cakes are marketed as a convenient stand-alone meal as well as a delicious recipe addition.

“SeaPak’s products are vetted for quality, safety and sustainability under top certification programs,” said Senior Vice President Ray Jones. “By joining the Crab Council, we are taking the same comprehensive approach for our crab cake value chain as our other products, committing to investing in and sourcing from fisheries on a path towards sustainability.”

Rich’s joins the Crab Council as its 25th full member. The Crab Council is an industry-led sustainability effort whose membership comprises a majority of imported crab. The Crab Council assesses its members on every pound of blue swimming crab imported to support fishery improvement projects in Southeast Asia.

“Rich Products Corporation is a great company to have on the council,” said Crab Council Chairman Brendan Sweeny. “Their participation signals that the Crab Council’s mission goes beyond direct importers and appeals to all facets of the industry. We look forward to having Rich’s distinct perspective guide the council’s sustainability goals.”
